About the founder

Paola Sota

Growing up in Cusco, the once-great capital of the Inca Empire, Paola has always had a passion for tourism. From her early travels to the Sacred Valley of the Incas to her master’s degree in sustainable tourism, she has gained a wealth of experience in the field. Her visits to rural communities in the Andes, South East Asia, and Africa have reinforced her belief that people are the essence of a destination.

Committed to promoting responsible tourism, Paola works in destination marketing, using her expertise to drive sustainable practices and empower local communities through the transformative power of travel. Now, as she ventures into social entrepreneurship, her goal is to give greater value to ancestral wisdom and build a community of responsible travelers, who truly appreciate and respect them as ancestral teachers.

About the Project

Traveling offers a unique chance to connect with the timeless wisdom of our ancestors, broaden one’s perspectives, and embark on a journey of personal growth and self-discovery. By interacting with local communities, travelers can gain a deeper understanding of their heritage, values, and traditions, passed down from generation to generation.

Through ‘Ancestral Teacher’, travelers can access community-based tourism projects and receive hands-on learning. From making a new craft to playing a musical instrument, or discovering the art of coffee-making, these transformative experiences aim to connect the traveler with the locals and rejuvenate their sense of purpose.
